My Lenten Prayer
April 17, 2014 · posted in Life
The mystery in a nutshell is this: Christ is in you, so therefore you can look forward to sharing in God's glory. It's that simple. That is the substance of our message. We preach Christ (Col. 1:27 MSG).
Perhaps these words I prayed recently during this season of Lent will spur you on to pray something similar:
Lord help me to lean in so that I can live out in this simple way. Today allow me to share my faith. Open divine appointments where I can simply preach Christ. Forever. It's that simple. Even though I stumble in so many ways on so many occasions, I can be fundamentally and foundationally optimistic, hopeful, and joyful because I know that you will work out your holiness in me. No matter what. No matter how often I fall you will be there to pick me up. Your arms are always wide open. All I need to do is lean in.
Help me to live this and give it away wherever I am today. Help this Lenten fast to speed up or focus the change so that I am less self occupied and more missional. I want to continue to develop the habit of eyes and a heart wide open.
As many of you end your observance of Lent today, I encourage you to continually seek God daily in living out your faith!
